Description: The last few years have witnessed a rapidly growing interest in the explanation and interpretation of the mesoscale microstructures which occur in distorted crystalline objects such as, for instance, conventional plastically deformed metals and alloys, as well as high-performance materials including ultra-fine grained polycrystals, nanocrystals and thin films.
This book describes experimental and theoretical research on distorted crystalline materials, and the interpretation of local lattice rotations by means of both dislocation and disclination theory. The general aim is to stimulate those scientists working in solid-state physics and materials science to use these theories as new and efficient tools for microstructure modeling, analysis and interpretation.
