| Description: | This is the second issue, following DDF165-166, to cover recent progress in this field. As usual, priority in abstracting has been given to the most accessible work and, in particular, to those papers which furnish original data or report important new techniques, phenomena or anomalies, although there is also extensive overage of more qualitative features of diffusion and defect phenomena, of the predictions of computer models, and of theoretical studies. The issue of course also includes original papers on the topic at hand with, in this case, the accent being on the kinetics of diffusion processes in metals; with regard to intermetallic growth under high pressures (L.N.Paritskaya et al), and basic solutions for the description of accelerated diffusion (E.A.Smirnov & A.A.Shmakov). Another paper presents experimental data on diffusion in the little-studied Zr-Np system, obtained in spite of the practical difficulties of expense, radioactivity and extreme tendency to oxidation. Altogether, this again makes the present work the most up-to-date and convenient source of information on current trends in the field of Defects and Diffusion in Metals. |
