| Description: | The main emphasis of this volume is on the fundamental physics of the II-VI compounds focusing on the properties of epitaxial layers, heterostructures, multilayers and superlattices. Main topics are doping of wide gap II-VI compounds, quantum wires and quantum dots, exitonic gain as well as basic processes in lasers including the microgun laser. New aspects covered are dephasing phenomena. As coherent femtosecond spectroscopy has revealed that semimagnetic (diluted magnetic) semiconductors, DMS, are materials of highest scientific as well as technological interest, a comprehensive treatment of the scientific and technological "state of the art" has been felt to be very timely. With 88 papers on DMS, the present publication excellently fills that gap. |
